2008 National Champions!!

The Gators have done it again. Oklahoma, welcome to the SEC, boys!! Again, the Gator challenger in the National Championship game talks trash about the Gators, and gets stomped, or should I say Chomped!!

I listened to the post game interviews of all the Gator players as well as all the Okahoma players and coaches. My opinion: The Oklahoma players and coaches lack class. The Heisman trophy winner, Sam Bradford, was asked in an interview if his opinion of Tim Tebow was different now that he has seen him in person. His reponse: He didn't pay any attention to Tim Tebow while he was on the field. Sam Bradford, you are a liar!! You could do nothing more than watch Tebow, cause he was on the field for such a long time, driving against your defense, and kicking their butt! Plus, keep in mind, the game was nationally televised, and I watched the game. And you were on the camera watching Tim Tebow run all over your sorry defense. So, don't get on TV and say that you didn't see him play. Give credit where credit is due, show some class!!

Now, all that being said, I still happen to think that Sam Bradford played a remarkable game. His pinpoint accuracate throws, the way that he worked the pocket to keep looming defensive lineman off of him, his quick release passes; I think that he was just plain brilliant. I think that his coaching staff let him down with all the time that they allowed to elapse between plays, giving the defense just that much more time to catch their breath and recover from the play before. If they had just kept the pressure on, I believe that the outcome would have been different. But folks, it wasn't!! So, be as good a losing sportsman as you are a winning sportsman.

And finally, to the Gators: You guys played a remarkable game. The amount of heart and determination to gut it out, stay the course, never give up, and always believe showed that you are truly a championship team. Your defense was remarkable! Your wide receivers made the catches when they needed to make the catches. Percy Harvin played hurt like a pro and performed outstandingly! You have a champion quarterback that is a champion on the field, as well as off. A champion winner, as well as when he loses. You guys are FIRST CLASS!! You guys should be proud. And I am very proud of you!

Tim Tebow - The Numbers Say It All

I saw an article that was asking the question, "Is Tim Tebow overrated". Well, if I take this question seriously instead of the normal knee-jerk re-action of "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!" response, let's go to the numbers and make an educated determination, shall we?

174 completions out of 268 attempts for 2515 yards, for a completion percentage of just under 65%. He scored 28 touchtowns this year passing the football with only 2 interceptions and an average yards per attempt at just under 10 yards. Tebow ran 154 times for 564 yards and 12 more touchdowns. His career passing yardage as a Gator is an astounding 6159 yards with 65 touchdowns. He is a 2 time Heisman contender, 1 time Heisman winner as a sophomore. And at 6'-3" tall and 240 lbs, he carries a strong presence on the field. Ask any cornerback if they enjoy tackling him, I think that you will get a unanimous answer across the board.....NO!

Some have asked if Tebow should go into the pro draft early. There are many things to consider here, not just is he good enough. Where in the draft is he expected to go? What kind of signing bonus? What teams are expressing interest? What kind of team will the Gators have next year? In my opinion, I think that he should stay with Florida and make a legacy for himself. He has the talent to be a Florida legend. If he stays, his numbers will be incredible, making him just that much more valuable. Signing bonus's go up, salary agreements increase. Numbers say it all.

So, is he over-rated....a resounding NO! He is that good! Is he an incredible passer like a Montana or Marino. No. Tebows strengths are wrapped up in the total package. Could Marino run the ball if no-one was open? Could he be punishing to the defense so that he had to be treated as a threat at all times...NO! Tebow is a threat everytime he has the ball in his hands. IS he going to pass, is he going to run. Defending against a team with a player like this is difficult at best. Quarterbacks that are a threat as a runner as well as a passer add a third dimension to the game, and Tebow's addition is a super 3D. If his 3 three years of stats are any indication to what lies ahead, Florida will be the #1 power house team of the country next year....the numbers say it all!

Who is #1

Hello Gator Fans!

I must say, I watched the Alabama / Utah game last evening. I thought that Alabama was going to kill them, and was almost not even going to watch the game. But Utah SPANKED Alabama, and sent the Tide ROLLING on home. It has been a long time since I have seen a team get beat that badly in all aspects of the game. I was really surprised to say the least, and on top of all that, it was embarrassing to the SEC. Shame on you 'Bama Boys.

But now that the total butt woopin' is overwith, the waters of the National Championship have now been muddied a bit. There are those out there that feel that since Utah had an undefeated season, and that they are the only ones to do so, that they should be crowned Champions. And to further support their quest, they completely demolished the former #1 team.

Then there are others out there that say that the schedule that the Gators have had to endure throughout the season FAR surpasses anything that Utah could imagine, and that the level of competition faced on a weekly basis necessitated that Florida maintain a high level of play on a constant basis. Whereas, Utah....well they had to get up for the Alabama game. I mean really: Michigan, UNLV, Utah St., Air Force, Weber State, Oregon St., Wyoming, Colorado St., New Mexico, TCU, San Diego St., and BYU??? Not exactly difficult to go undefeated there now is it.

Then there is Oklahoma. Geeez!! They demolished everyone that they played except for Texas, and that was probably a fluke. There Heisman quarterback drives one of the most powerful offenses. I would have liked to have seen Utah against Florida or Oklahoma, now that would have been amuzing.

But I like Florida to go all the way. When I look at Oklahoma's schedule, they really didn't play anyone either, except Texas, and they LOSSED!! Don't get me wrong, I think they have a great team, and the potential is there to be dominant. but Florida has had an extremely tough schedule this year. And they will be on all cylinders with the dynamic Percy Harvin back on the field and Tim Tebow out to show Sam Bradford who should have really won the Heisman. Afterall, Oklahoma kept Bradford in the all the games for their entirety, while Tebow was pulled in several games because the score was rediculous!

So, here's my prediction,

Florida 42

Oklahoma 28
